| Stressing on the importance of water conservation, Gopal Chettiyar, divisional head of Seva Bharathi Trust has said that every household should get sensitised on the need for water conservation as the country would face severe water crisis in coming years. | |
| He was speaking after inaugurating a workshop on water conservation jointly organised by the Seva Bharathi Trust and Janajagruthi Trust here on Sunday. Every individual should understand the importance of conservation of water. It must be a education across households in the country. The man was responsible for the degradation of environment, depleting area of forests and shrinking of number of lakes and rivers and fertile land. As the humanity worldwide would suffer from the brunt of its impact, the country will see a bigger crisis, he said. He regretted that the precious water was being neglected in the society.
Many wells in the rural cities and villages turned waste dumping yard. District convener of Seva Bharathi Pradyumna Shetty said every drop of water was precious. Human beings will have to only recall about the greenery and abundant water resources after 60 years from now, he said. Narayana Shenoy of Manipal Institute of Technolgy also delivered a lecture on the usage of water. Hebbal Ramesh of water resources department, Ramesh Kikkeri, convener, Vivekananda Youth Movement were present. |
